A new survey conducted by Global Info Analytics has revealed that ex-Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is leading the flagbearer race of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the survey results, Dr. Bawumia is leading the race with a 52% approval rating.

Dr. Bawumia’s main rival, Kennedy Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency, trails with 17%.

The poll shows that other candidates for the presidential candidate role are not favorites to win the primaries.

One of the contenders, Dr. Bryan Acheampong – who served as Agriculture Minister under former President Nana Akufo-Addo – polled 3%. He is followed by former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum who polled 1%.

Also polling 1% is the former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyapong.

According to survey results, 10% of NPP delegates remain undecided, while 9% declined to disclose their preferences ahead of the race scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Global Info Analytics says it surveyed 2,656 NPP delegates, with 2,560 completing all responses.

It says interviews were done from 12th to 20th August 2025 across 263 of the 276 constituencies, using Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI).

The survey had a confidence level of 99% and margin of error of + or – 2.44%.
