Former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has thrown his weight behind the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Akwatia Constituency by-election, Solomon Kwame Asumadu.
Dr. Bawumia joined party members in Akwatia on Sunday, August 31, 2025, to campaign for Asumadu.
In a statement later on Sunday evening on his Facebook page, he disclosed that he had urged constituents to vote for the NPP candidate in order to continue the good works and legacy of their late Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi.
The by-election is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025. It was necessitated by the passing of Ernest Kumi, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate.
