Fire Devastates Pure FM Studios in Kumasi, Halting Broadcasts

On the evening of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, a fierce fire swept through the studios of Kumasi-based Pure FM, part of the Angel Broadcasting Network, forcing the station off air. The blaze, which raged for over three hours during a live broadcast at its Patasi premises, destroyed all studio equipment but spared the main building structure. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Morning Show host Kwame Adinkra shared an emotional statement on social media, saying, “I’m completely exhausted. We’ve just spent over three intense hours battling the fire that broke out at Pure FM studios. Thankfully, we managed to save the building, but we lost all our studio equipment. We’ll be off air temporarily—but we shall rise again!” The station confirmed the incident on its official Facebook page, stating, “Fire gut our studio, programing on hold.”

The Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly but could not prevent significant damage. While preliminary reports suggest an electrical fault may have sparked the fire, the cause remains unconfirmed as investigations are set to begin. Pure FM has suspended all programming to assess the damage and cooperate with authorities.

A prominent station in the Ashanti Region, Pure FM is known for its vibrant morning shows and community-focused content. The incident, reminiscent of a similar fire at Silver FM in Kumasi in March 2023, has prompted an outpouring of support from listeners and broadcasters across social media, expressing hope for the station’s recovery.
