The European Union (EU) has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Libyan people in their ongoing pursuit of peace, unity, and national stability.
In a statement shared on the official page of its Delegation to Libya on Thursday, marking the 14th anniversary of Libya’s Liberation Day, the EU commended the resilience, courage, and aspirations of the Libyan people while pledging continued assistance toward achieving lasting peace and prosperity.
“Today, Libya celebrates its Liberation Day, a moment to honour the resilience, courage, and aspirations of the Libyan people,” the EU delegation stated, paying tribute to those who have worked for more than a decade to stabilize and rebuild the nation.
Liberation Day, observed annually on October 23, commemorates the end of the 2011 conflict and the Libyan people’s struggle for freedom and sovereignty. It also serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made in efforts to establish a unified, democratic state despite persistent political and institutional challenges.
Reaffirming its long-standing partnership with Libya, the EU expressed strong support for Libyan-led initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable resolution to the country’s divisions. It also reiterated its backing for political dialogue, national reconciliation, and the restoration of legitimate state institutions under the guidance of the United Nations.
The EU emphasized that Libya’s stability remains essential for regional peace and prosperity across the Mediterranean, noting that its cooperation with Libya continues to focus on economic recovery, border security, and humanitarian assistance for vulnerable communities.
