The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (Gomo II) has died at the age of 81 in a London hospital.
The Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, confirmed the monarch’s death in a statement on Sunday.
The government expressed deep sorrow over the Emir’s passing and extended sympathies to his immediate family, the Zuru Emirate Council, the people of Zuru, and the entire state. “The government prays to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” part of the statement read.
The late Emir is survived by four wives and seven children.
