Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has provided a significant double injury boost for the Blues, confirming that both Liam Delap and Willian Estevão are available for the upcoming festive fixtures.
Maresca shared the update during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, ahead of Chelsea’s highly anticipated home game against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Liam Delap: Return of the Physical Edge
Delap, who has been sidelined recently with a shoulder injury, has made a full recovery. Maresca expressed his enthusiasm about the young striker’s return, noting that his specific profile is unique within the current squad.
“We are delighted to have Liam back. His physical presence and work rate are valuable assets for us,” Maresca said. “His return comes at a crucial time when we need that extra intensity and depth in the forward line.”
Willian Estevão: Creative Option Restored
The Blues will also welcome back Brazilian sensation Willian Estevão. The teenager had been managing a minor muscle problem that forced him to miss recent outings, but he has now successfully returned to full training.
Maresca revealed that the Brazil international showed no signs of discomfort during the latest sessions. However, the coach emphasized a cautious approach:
- Full Training: Estevão trained with the main group without issues.
- Careful Management: The club will continue to monitor his load to avoid a recurrence.
- Tactical Impact: His return provides a vital creative spark in the final third.
Rotation and Tactical Flexibility
With the holiday schedule piling up, Maresca highlighted the importance of a deep squad. He noted that having more players fit and ready allows for the necessary squad rotation to keep performance levels high.
“Having more players ready gives me greater tactical flexibility,” Maresca added. “In these weeks, rotation is key to maintaining our energy as we push for positive results against the most in-form teams in the league.”
Chelsea currently face a stern test against an Aston Villa side that has been remarkably consistent this season. The return of Delap and Estevão strengthens the Blues’ hand as they look to secure all three points in front of their home fans.
