Reggie Carroll, a Baltimore-born comedian known for his nationwide stand-up tours, was shot and killed last week in Southhaven, Mississippi, according to a statement from the Southhaven Police Department. He was 52 years old.
Authorities responded to a report of a shooting on Burton Lane and found Carroll with gunshot wounds. An investigation is currently underway, and police have not yet released the identity of a suspect.
Often referred to as “The Knockout King of Comedy” after his stand-up special of the same name, Carroll had built a dedicated following through his performances. He also made appearances on popular television shows, including Showtime at the Apollo and The Parkers.
