The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB Ghana) celebrated its 16th Induction and Graduation Ceremony with the induction of 110 new chartered bankers, increasing its professional community to 1,127 members over the past five years. Held under the theme ‘Career Beyond Qualification: Navigating Horizon Risks,’ the event emphasized the importance of ethics, professionalism, and adaptability in the ever-evolving financial landscape.

Robert Dzato, CEO of CIB Ghana, highlighted the institute’s commitment to promoting ethical practices and enhancing professional standards. “We aim to put ethics and professionalism at the forefront of our agenda, even as we pursue our mandate of promoting the study of banking and regulating the practice of the banking profession in Ghana,” he stated.

CIB Ghana’s initiatives, including the Ethics Certification, ESG Certification, and the Chartered Banker for Executive Leadership (CBEL) Programme, aim to equip members with essential skills to tackle emerging challenges in the financial sector.

Notably, this year’s induction ceremony marked significant progress in gender representation, with women comprising 60% of the new inductees, up from 51% the previous year. Mr. Dzato lauded this achievement as a testament to the institute’s commitment to inclusivity and sustainability in banking.

Guest speaker representative, Bruce James, Director of Wholesale Banking at Access Bank, emphasized the pivotal role of integrity in banking, urging the new members to become agents of positive change. President of CIB Ghana, Benjamin Amenumey, echoed this sentiment, calling on the inductees to uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.
