A 65-year-old British man accused of sexually abusing 30 Namibian children and taking naked photos of them has been arrested in Namibia.
Local media reports in Namibia said the suspect named Douglas Robert Brook is a tourist.
According to reports, Namibian police disclosed that the British tourist sexually abused young boys and girls from the indigenous San community in the central Otjozondjupa region.
The faces 38 charges, including rape, indecent assault and child exploitation, according to local media reports.
Reports say he arrived in Namibia last week for a holiday and was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly lured the children with sweets and money to take their photos while they were naked.
A regional police chief, Maureen Mbeha, reportedly told state media that the British tourist sexually abused 16 girls and 14 boys.
Reports say some of the naked photos of the children were found on Brook’s camera that was seized during his arrest.
The San community is believed to be one of Namibia’s most vulnerable and historically marginalized groups.
