Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan, best known for his hits Type of Way and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh), has tragically passed away at the age of 34 due to a reported drug overdose.
News of his death has sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community, with fans and fellow artists expressing their grief online. Rapper Boosie took to X to confirm that Quan’s passing was the result of an overdose, a revelation that has left many mourning.
Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Lamar, was recently seen in court supporting his friend and fellow rapper Young Thug, who is currently facing RICO charges. Also, Quan had close ties to Young Stoner Life Records, the label founded by Young Thug. He was celebrated for his work in the genre. This includes collaborations with industry heavyweights like Birdman on tracks such as Lifestyle.
Additionally, the news of Quan’s passing comes just months after the hip-hop world lost another rising star, rapper Enchanting, who died in June at age 26 following a battle with drug addiction. Enchanting, born Channing Nicole Larry, reportedly spent her final days attempting to recover from withdrawal at a friend’s home, but tragically succumbed to an overdose.
