Amapiano hitmaker Kelvin Momo, real name Thato Ledwaba, is facing serious financial and legal trouble after Ace Events, an Australian entertainment firm, filed court papers seeking the liquidation of his company, Kelvin Momo Production. The case stems from alleged contract breaches tied to two missed performances in Australia last year.
According to court documents cited by Sunday World, Ace Events is demanding R2.8 million in refunds and damages, claiming Momo failed to show up for shows scheduled in Melbourne (Nov. 2, 2024) and Perth (Nov. 3, 2024), despite receiving a 50% deposit on a combined performance fee of US$17,500.

Per the signed agreement:
-
Momo was to perform 60-minute sets at both locations.
-
Fees included US$10,000 for Melbourne and US$7,500 for Perth.
-
The contract allowed for a reschedule within three months of cancellation, failing which a full refund was required.
Ace Events director Million Mwenge Butshiire says Momo and his team not only failed to perform, but also did not reschedule or issue refunds, violating the terms of their agreement.
This controversy adds to a growing pattern of no-shows by the 31-year-old producer. In April, he disappointed fans in Zambia after missing his appearance at Piano Palooza, blaming a scheduling conflict and missed flight due to another gig in Limpopo.
As news of the legal battle broke, social media erupted with reactions. Some fans expressed disappointment, while others joked about the artist’s prolific music releases being a means to “pay off his debt through streams.” One user on X, @thegirlthato_, quipped: “I wonder if Kelvin Momo is overbooking or whether he is just lazy and unserious.”
With the looming court case and the reputation of Kelvin Momo Production on the line, the amapiano sensation may be facing more than just lost gigs—his business and brand could be at serious risk.
