Incumbent President Alassane Ouattara has been declared winner of Ivory Coast’s presidential election, paving way for him to serve a fourth-term of office in the world’s biggest cocoa-producing nation.
Provisional results from the country’s October 25, 2025 presidential election showed that the 83-year-old Ouattara was the winner.
Ivory Coast’s Independent Electoral Commission announced the results on Monday, October 27, 2025.
According to the Commission, he won the race with 89.77 percent of the votes cast.
About 8.7 million Ivorians, according to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) turned out to vote on Saturday, October 25.
The election excluded Ouattara’s top rivals namely former President Laurent Gbagbo and ex-Credit Suisse CEO, Tidjane Thiam. Gbagbo was disqualified over a criminal conviction while Thiam was barred for acquiring French citizenship.
Challenging Ouattara were four other candidates including former First Lady, Simone Gbagbo and Ex-Commerce Minister, Jean-Louis Billon.
