Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama, has described Africa as “the world’s most dynamic emerging market”, calling on global investors to consider investing on the continent.

Delivering the keynote at the eighth Africa-Singapore Business Forum on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, President Mahama says “I speak today as an African leader and as President of Ghana. Our message is simple: Africa is investable, and Ghana is your reliable gateway to the continent. The continent is the world’s most dynamic emerging market.”

The Ghanaian leader said Africa – with a population of 1.4 billion people who are predominantly youth – offers a unique opportunity for global businesses and investors who are ready to scale, particularly in renewable energy, technology, and trade.

Mr. Mahama predicted by 2030, cities in Africa will host over 700 million consumers.

He told investors that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has created the largest new free trade zone in the world by the number of participating nations.

He says AfCFTA was unlocking a $3.4 trillion market and lowering barriers across supply chains.

According to him, “Africa holds vast renewable energy potential and is already a global leader in mobile money and fintech adoption. This is a market ready for scaled solutions. Yet this opportunity must be matched with capital at the right price and with the right instruments.”
