Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has secured a major legal victory, winning a defamation suit that resulted in a N20 million award in damages. The case targeted a defamatory publication that falsely linked her to former Senator Dino Melaye. Following the judgment, the actress publicly vowed to expose a colleague she accuses of feeding the false story to a blogger.
The Court Victory and Damages
The Lagos High Court ruled in favor of Adunni Ade in the case of Adunni Ade vs. Polace Media Limited. The court awarded the actress the N20 million sum and mandated the immediate removal of her name and image from the publication.
Celebrating her win, Adunni Ade emphasized the ruling’s significance for public figures:
“I won my case – Adunni Ade vs. Polace Media Limited. A false story was published about me, but the truth stood tall. This judgment reaffirms that privacy matters – and so does integrity. Justice delayed isn’t justice denied.”
The actress extended her gratitude to her legal counsel, Olumide Babalola, for his dedication to the case.
A Warning to the Accused Colleague
In a sharp pivot following the judgment, Adunni Ade directed harsh words toward those she claims were attempting to evade legal service, stating, “You who are running up and down avoiding court papers, please stand still so you can be served.”
However, her most pointed remarks were aimed at an unnamed “fellow actress” who she accuses of acting as the source for the defamatory content published by blogger Cutie Julls.
“To you, my fellow actress who told a false story to Cutie Julls, don’t worry—very soon the world will know the kind of snake you are. Envy and bitterness live and breathe in you. You are deadly! You must have forgotten what you showed me in my room?”
Adunni Ade concluded by thanking the Nigerian court system for upholding her rights and emphasizing the importance of privacy and integrity in public life.
