Adekunle Gold’s ‘Fuji’ Album Defies Streaming Norms, Records Higher Streams in Second Week

Against the usual industry curve where album interest peaks quickly and then drops, Adekunle Gold’s sixth studio album, Fuji, has achieved a rare streaming feat by recording higher numbers in its second week than in its debut week.

The album, released with a full seven-day tracking period for both chart appearances, has set a new pace in Nigeria’s music industry.

Second Week4.85 million3,230No. 5

While a few EPs have shown similar upward trajectories, Fuji stands out as the first full-length project to achieve this growth in streams and chart position with full tracking weeks in both its initial and follow-up appearance.

The Select List of Projects with Rare Streaming Growth

The following projects are noted for exhibiting this rare streaming pattern, where second-week numbers surpassed the debut:

  • Kizz Daniel’s ‘TZA’: Debuted at No. 1 with 4.3 million streams, rising to 5.5 million in its second week. The project spent 47 weeks on the chart.
  • Tml Vibez’s ‘Timileyin 2.0’: Debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 3.7 million streams in its first week, rising to 4.7 million in its second week, and lasting 68 weeks on the chart.
  • Tml Vibez’s ‘Xin Mao’: Entered at No. 9, peaked at No. 3, moving from 2.7 million to 3.1 million streams, and spent 54 weeks on the chart.
  • Famous Pluto’s ‘Uzama the 3rd’ (EP): Debuted and peaked at No. 2, growing from 6.9 million to 8.3 million streams, remaining for 17 weeks.
  • Qing Madi’s self-titled EP: Debuted at No. 38, peaked at No. 10, with streams rising from 450,000 to 555,000, and an impressive 97 weeks on the chart.

This achievement signals that in a fast-moving music landscape where album interests often burn out quickly, Fuji is resonating deeply enough to gain momentum and attract new listeners even after the initial launch buzz has subsided.
