At least five members of the same family have been killed in a tragic road accident in Nigeria.
The accident occurred along the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway in Yobe State on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Hajjagana Dahiru Zayi, Ibrahim Dahiru Zayi, Muhammad Dahiru Zayi, Hauwa Dahiru Zayi, and another family member, all residents of Potiskum Local Government Area.
A relative, Dahiru Musa Talba, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, revealing that three other relatives sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured were rushed to the General Hospital in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, where they are receiving medical care.
SP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command, confirmed the deaths and said others sustained injuries. He added that an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
“The accident involved members of the same family. Five persons were confirmed dead, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” SP Abdulkarim said.
