Robert Mugabe Jr, son of the late former Zimbabwean president, appeared in a Harare magistrates’ court on Thursday on drug possession charges as police expanded investigations into an alleged drug syndicate reportedly linked to him.
The 33-year-old was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly driving the wrong way on a one-way street, during which police say they found sachets of cannabis in his car.
Authorities later arrested five others in connection with the case, seizing 25 sachets of marijuana and six ecstasy pills. The suspects include Mitchel Jackson, Simbarashe Kaseke, Wellington Ncube, Phillip Munetsi Chiyangwa, and Tanaka Kashamba.
Police confirmed that investigations into the alleged drug ring remain ongoing.
