A food outlet in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, was temporarily shut down on Monday morning following the tragic and sudden death of a customer who collapsed inside the premises while reportedly waiting for his food order.
Authorities are yet to confirm the identity and age of the man.
Details of the Incident
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to The Chronicle, the customer was sitting inside the outlet when he suddenly slumped. Employees were alerted after another patron noticed that he was motionless and sitting in an awkward position.
Emergency services were immediately contacted, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department’s Homicide division were called to the scene and carried out an initial assessment of the incident. The body remained inside the outlet as of 9:45 AM, while other patrons continued to be served through the main entrance.
Police have yet to release details regarding the cause of death. The authorities are expected to release an official statement soon as the investigation continues.
The sudden death of a customer inside the food outlet has left many people shocked, highlighting the unpredictability of life. The incident has also prompted calls for greater public awareness of emergency response measures such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) outside of hospitals.
