A 30-year-old Zambian businessman and employee, of Time Petroleum, Benjamin Kafula, has been committed to the High Court in Chinsali within the Muchinga Province of Zambia, to face trial for the alleged murder of his immediate boss, Vipin Tiwari.
The committal follows instructions from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The case stems from an incident on March 19, 2024, when Kafula and Tiwari were traveling to deposit company funds at a bank in Nakonde. Kafula, who was driving at the time, reportedly crashed into a stationary truck along the Great North Road, a few meters from their station.
Tiwari died in the accident, while Kafula sustained head injuries and a fractured leg.
Kafula was hospitalized following the crash but was later arrested and charged. Court records state that he is accused of murdering Tiwari in Nakonde on the specified date.

In addition to the murder charge, Kafula is jointly facing a separate count of theft by servant with two other employees, accused of stealing more than K600,000 in company funds.
