AKURE, NIGERIA — The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman, Iluyemi Bosede, on suspicion of killing her elder sister, Tewogboye Omowumi, following an argument over a debt of N800. The incident reportedly occurred on September 6, 2025, in Akure, the state capital.
According to a statement from the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, the dispute began when the suspect demanded the N800 payment for groceries. The disagreement quickly escalated, leading to a physical altercation.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that one Iluyemi Bosede approached her elder sister, Tewogboye Omowumi, aged 35 years, to demand the sum of N800…What began as a minor disagreement, however, tragically escalated into violence when the suspect allegedly held onto the clothes of the victim, causing her to fall to the ground,” the police spokesman stated.
Omowumi was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The police spokesman noted that the tragic outcome highlights how “seemingly trivial disputes can spiral into irreversible consequences.”
The suspect has been taken into custody, and the police have assured that she will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
