Wizkid and Burna Boy Clash Over Gunna’s ‘The Last Wun’ Features

The release of Gunna’s sixth studio album, The Last Wun, on August 8, 2025, featuring Afrobeats stars Wizkid (“Forever Be Mine”) and Burna Boy (“WGFT”), has ignited a heated online feud between the two artists, fueled by their fanbases, Wizkid FC and Burna Boy’s Outsiders. The conflict escalated after Burna Boy’s posts on his burner Instagram account on August 10, 2025, as reported by Pulse Nigeria and Asaba Metro. Burna, while performing, shared a photo captioned, “This is 2021. And I’ve been doing this since GLO and Star Trek tour days. Na just last Christmas una start am. FC, tread softly o. Body Dey pepper me,” followed by, “Create your happiness any Wich way. It’s allowed!” These were perceived as jabs at Wizkid’s fanbase, referencing their relatively recent formation compared to his longer career.

Wizkid FC retaliated, with one fan (@francis__voice on X) claiming Burna’s frustration stemmed from Wizkid’s feature outperforming his on streaming platforms, stating, “See what the Wizkid’s track on Gunna album is doing to the Burna track… I totally understand his frustration”. Another (@gidi_starz) suggested Burna’s feature was an attempt to “revive” his career, but Wizkid “bodied him”. Burna responded on Instagram, asserting his dominance: “Na me dey sell stadiums for where ur idolo dey cancel him small small venues. Bro just dey happy dey go, Free me. My own no good.” He also claimed to be the first to perform shirtless on the 2014 GLO tour, dismissing imitators.

Wizkid countered subtly on X, reposting a fan’s comment with “Weirdo!” and sharing Snapchat messages like “Get everything no happiness. No go be our portion! Amen” and “Dead, tired and burnt out souls!!”, interpreted as shots at Burna. Posts on X, such as @Musicpsychopath’s, suggested Burna’s reaction was driven by jealousy over Wizkid’s standout verse, stating, “Everyone’s praising Wizkid’s verse, and not a word about his”. Others, like @MartinaMensah1, expressed disappointment in the feud, valuing their past friendship but criticizing Wizkid FC’s disrespect.

The tracks themselves have split opinions. Asaba Metro noted mixed reactions to Wizkid’s “Forever Be Mine,” with some praising its smooth melodies and others feeling it didn’t match Gunna’s vibe. Burna’s “WGFT” was lauded for its Afrofusion energy, but Wizkid’s feature garnered more streaming buzz, per X posts. The feud, rooted in competitive fanbases and perceived slights, has overshadowed the album’s global appeal, which blends trap and Afrobeats with features from Offset, Asake, and Nechie. As Hypebeast highlighted, The Last Wun marks Gunna’s final YSL Records project, amplifying its cultural weight.
