The US Senate has passed President Donald Trump’s mega tax cuts and spending bill, the ‘Big Beautiful Bill ‘, following a tie-breaking vote by Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

According to multiple US media reports, the Senate passed the bill in a 51-50 vote, with Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.

Reports say three Republican senators namely Susan Collins, Rand Paul and Thom Tillis, voted against the bill.

The approval of the bill comes after weeks of bitter infighting in the GOP, and public feud between President Trump and billionaire Elon Musk who is grossly against the bill which he believes will add more debts.

The bill, despite its approval by Senate, must still be approved by the House, which is expected to return to Washington on Wednesday, according to CNN.

Reports say Republican leaders are doing everything possible to get the multi-trillion dollars bill to the White House by July 4.
