The US National Guard troops have officially deployed in Washington DC to help raid criminals from the capital city and relocate homeless people.
According to the White House, the US National Guard troops were deployed across D.C. Tuesday night.
The deployment comes just a day after President Donald Trump placed Washington DC police under federal control in his effort to “immediately” remove homeless people from the city and “jail criminals.”
The White House says about 800 of the US National Guard troops were deployed.
According to the White House, in the first two nights after the deployment, 66 people were arrested.
As earlier reported, President Trump recently announced that “homeless” people have to immediately move out of Washington DC, the capital of the United States.
He made this known in a post on social media on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
According to him, “I’m going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before.”
He said “The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital.”
President Trump added that “The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong. It’s all going to happen very fast, just like the Border. We went from millions pouring in, to ZERO in the last few months. This will be easier – Be prepared!”
He further warned that “There will be no “MR. NICE GUY”. We want our Capital BACK. Thank you for attention to this matter!””.
