UBA Ghana Celebrates African Union Day with a Vibrant Display of Culture, Unity, and Heritage

UBA Ghana joined the rest of the continent in commemorating African Union (AU) Day 2025 with a vibrant and unifying celebration that showcased Africa’s rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted diversity.

Held under the bank’s network-wide theme, “Africa by Africans: Partnering for Progress,” the celebration took place across all UBA branches and offices nationwide. From Accra to Tamale, and Kumasi to Takoradi, the event turned corporate spaces into cultural stages as employees donned traditional attire, shared local cuisine, and engaged in storytelling that celebrated the continent’s diverse identities.

One of the standout features of the celebration was the Best Dressed competition, recognizing staff in traditional African wear at both Accra headquarters and regional branches. The contest highlighted creativity, cultural pride, and the rich variety of ethnic expressions across the UBA workforce.

In addition to fashion and storytelling, employees enjoyed authentic African treats, sparking nostalgia and warmth as local delicacies were served at every branch. The culinary showcase reminded all of Africa’s abundant flavours and shared history.

Speaking at the event, Henry Nii Dottey, Regional Head, MCC West Africa/Anglophone and Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications, UBA Ghana, said:

“Africa Day is not just a date on the calendar—it’s a celebration of our shared heritage and the limitless potential of our continent. At UBA, we take pride in embracing our roots while working toward Africa’s future. Today, we honour that spirit of unity and progress.”

Reinforcing the theme “Partnering for Progress,” UBA Ghana also spotlighted its Pan-African money transfer solution — AfriCash. The innovative service enables fast, secure cross-border transfers through UBA’s network of over 1,000 branches in Africa, boosting intra-African trade, financial inclusion, and economic growth.

This annual observance of AU Day reaffirms UBA’s longstanding commitment to Pan-Africanism, cultural pride, and economic empowerment. With operations in 20 African countries, UBA continues to champion unity, progress, and prosperity for the continent.
