A fun backstage moment between South African singer Tyla and American R&B star Ciara at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards has sparked speculation about a potential musical collaboration. The two were seen dancing together on Sunday night at the UBS Arena in New York, where Ciara taught Tyla the moves to her new single, “Low,” which features Tanzanian artist Diamond Platinumz.
A video shared by Ciara on X (formerly Twitter) showed the almost 40-year-old artist with her signature high energy and impressive dance skills, while Tyla, the Grammy award-winning star, struggled to keep up before cheering on the “Ecstasy” hitmaker.
Ciara captioned the post: “I think you’re ready for more! Loved getting low with you @Tyllaaaaaaa.” The line, a reference to her song’s lyrics, has many wondering if it’s a subtle hint about a future collaboration.
The idea is not far-fetched, as Ciara has previously expressed her admiration for Tyla and a desire to work with her. In an interview with L’Officiel, she said: “If I could collaborate with someone, I think it would be super cool to maybe work with Tyla. I think what she does is just; her music is really infectious, and she makes people dance through her music. And for me, it’s really important to make the world dance.”
“I think me and Tyla could wind it up a little bit, you know, do a little song, something together, maybe. It could be cute,” she added.
Tyla was also spotted mingling with other major artists at the VMAs, including rappers GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Busta Rhymes, and singer Zara Larsson. The two singers were seen together again the following day at the Pandora Talisman Collection launch event in New York.
This recent buzz comes after fans speculated that Ciara’s new song and its music video were influenced by Tyla’s style, causing some online debate between their fanbases.
