Police in the Ashanti Region, Ghana have launched an investigation after two employees of Asomdwie Rubber Company, a Chinese-owned plastic processing firm, were discovered dead in a parked vehicle at the company’s shoe factory enclave in Atonsu Agogo.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Baba, a long-serving staff member of the company, and a female colleague who had joined the firm only a few weeks earlier. Authorities say the pair were found on the back seat of Baba’s vehicle, which had been locked from the inside with all windows rolled up. The discovery was made on Monday, November 24, after workers and residents noticed a strong odour coming from the car, which had remained unmoved since the weekend.

Events Leading to the Discovery
According to company sources, several employees—including the two deceased—attended the wedding of a manager on Saturday, November 22. Later that night, the female worker reported for her shift but informed supervisors that she was feeling unwell, prompting management to advise her to go home.
Around 8 p.m., residents observed Baba’s vehicle entering the area. Witnesses recall that the car engine was running initially before going silent. The car remained parked in the same spot throughout Sunday, November 23, raising concerns only when the smell became noticeable the following day.
Community and Family Context
Information gathered from colleagues indicates that Baba had married just three months earlier, in August 2025, and his wife is currently expecting their first child. The female employee was also said to be making preparations for her upcoming wedding scheduled for December 2025. Co-workers describe both individuals as hardworking and well-liked within the company.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Police officers from the Atonsu Agogo District Command broke into the vehicle to retrieve the bodies and later transported them to the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Investigators have not yet confirmed the cause of death, and the Ghana Police Service has urged the public to avoid speculation until forensic examinations are complete.
The management of Asomdwie Rubber Company is reported to be cooperating fully with the investigation while also offering support to the bereaved families.
