Operatives of the Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) have apprehended two men — identified as Omika Isah and Stephen Garuba — for allegedly attempting to kill a commercial motorcyclist and stealing his motorcycle in the Itobe community, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The arrest, according to the Controller-General of the KSVS, Alhaji Ibrahim Oneiza Sani (DIG Rtd), took place on October 20, 2025, following a swift response by operatives attached to the Itobe Command after a report was lodged.
In a statement issued by the KSVS Public Relations Officer, Idris S. Idris, the suspects were said to have deceived their victim, Yunusa Salihu, into following them to the Ettutu forest under the pretext of a transport request. Once there, they brutally assaulted him, leaving him unconscious, and made away with his motorcycle.

Believing their victim was dead, the suspects fled the scene. However, Salihu survived and was rescued by a passerby, who alerted the KSVS team at Itobe. Acting on the information provided by the victim, the operatives launched a manhunt that led to the arrest of the two suspects in their separate hideouts.
Recovered items included the stolen motorcycle and a Tecno CM4 mobile phone belonging to the victim. The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and admitted to participating in previous criminal acts in the area.
