President Donald Trump has directed that all American Flags across the United States of America (USA) fly at half mast in honor of his influential ally and Conservative activist, Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead at the Utah Valley University.
In a Truth Social post confirming the killing of Kirk, President Trump said “In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.”
Kirk was shot on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, while he was hosting an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, just north of Provo. He was taken to hospital and President Trump, Vice President, JD Vance and several others offered prayers for his recovery but he sadly died later.
A video that went viral online showed the moment Kirk was shot, causing fear and panic on the Utah Valley University campus, with people seeing running from the scene.
The video show Kirk, a co-founder of Turning Point USA, recoiling after a shot was fired, with blood pouring from his neck. Kirk was giving a presentation when he was shot.
The shooter remained at large as at the time of filing this report.
FBI Director Kash Patel had stated that a subject in custody in connection with the shooting was released after being questioned.
