President Donald Trump has indeed signed a major directive, granting pardons and commutations to individuals involved in the January 6th protests. According to the proclamation, Trump has commuted the sentences of several individuals convicted of offenses related to the events at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, to time served as of January 20, 2025 .

Additionally, Trump has granted a full, unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to the January 6th protests. This move is seen as a significant development, as it affects approximately 1,500 individuals who were involved in the protests.

The proclamation also directs the Attorney General to administer and effectuate the immediate issuance of certificates of pardon to all individuals described, and to ensure that all individuals convicted of offenses related to the January 6th protests who are currently held in prison are released immediately .
