Tributes Pour In for Highlife Legend Dada KD as New Details Emerge About His Final Days

As tributes continue to flood social media following the passing of Highlife legend Dada KD, new details have surfaced, shedding light on the emotional turmoil the veteran musician endured behind his seemingly strong and vibrant public persona.

In a heartfelt phone interview with Zion Felix, renowned broadcaster Nana Romeo recounted his recent interactions with the “Somu Gye” hitmaker. According to Nana Romeo, Dada KD appeared physically healthy and was actively preparing for a major performance in London, scheduled for next week. However, behind the scenes, he was quietly battling emotional and psychological struggles.

“He looked fit. He never complained of any sickness,” Nana Romeo shared. “In fact, he was recently on my radio show and looked completely fine. But when you spoke to him one-on-one, you would realize that financially, psychologically, emotionally, he wasn’t a happy person. He was going through a lot in life.”

Romeo also described how he learned of the shocking news. After seeing a flood of posts on social media questioning whether the iconic singer had died, he immediately reached out to Dada KD’s manager.

“The manager sounded broken. There were tears in the manager’s voice,” he said. “She confirmed the news and told me that when they got to Dada KD’s house, he wasn’t talking or responsive. They rushed him to the Gbawe Hospital, but sadly, he passed away this evening.”

At the time of his passing, Dada KD, born Dada Kwaku Duah, was actively preparing for a UK concert. “We were seriously working on it. Everything was being arranged,” Nana Romeo added, underscoring how sudden and unexpected the loss was.

While the actual cause of death has not yet been confirmed, his family and management are currently awaiting a full medical report.

Dada KD’s contribution to Ghanaian music is undeniable. With timeless classics such as “Fatia Fata Nkrumah,” “Somu Gye,” “Honest Love,” and “Odo Mu Anigyie,” his music resonated with generations and cemented his place as one of the most beloved voices in Highlife.

Nana Romeo extended his condolences to the family, fans, and the nation, noting, “This is a huge loss to Ghana’s music industry.”

This is a developing story. Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
