French energy giant TotalEnergies and its partners have officially lifted the force majeure status on their $20 billion Mozambique Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project, nearly four years after operations were halted due to Islamist militant attacks.
According to a company spokesperson, formal notice of the decision was sent to the Mozambican government on Friday.
TotalEnergies stated that before the full resumption of project activities, Mozambique’s Council of Ministers must approve an addendum to the development plan, which includes an updated budget and project timeline.
