Telecel Ghana Foundation’s Healthfest Brings Vital Healthcare to 447 in Techiman

Techiman, Ghana – The Telecel Ghana Foundation continued its impactful Healthfest initiative on Thursday, December 19th, providing free health screenings and NHIS enrollment to 447 residents of Techiman in the Bono East Region.

A team of dedicated doctors, nurses, and pharmacists conducted comprehensive checks for conditions such as high blood pressure, blood glucose levels, malaria, typhoid, and Hepatitis B. The screenings revealed a significant need for increased health awareness and early intervention in the community, with many individuals found to have high blood pressure and elevated blood glucose levels.

“I’ve been feeling unwell for months but couldn’t afford a hospital visit,” shared Abena Mansah, a 35-year-old trader. “Today, I found out I have high blood pressure, and the advice from the doctors has been so helpful.”

The event also facilitated NHIS enrollment and renewal for 300 residents, ensuring continued access to healthcare services. Participants received counseling and practical advice on managing their health conditions.

“Health is the foundation of every thriving community,” stated Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of Foundation, Sustainability and External Communications at Telecel Ghana. “Through Healthfest, we’re not only addressing immediate health concerns but also ensuring that communities like Techiman can have access to long-term medical care.”

The Healthfest initiative underscores Telecel Ghana Foundation’s commitment to improving health and well-being in underserved communities across Ghana.
