UYO — The Super Eagles clinched a crucial 1-0 victory against Rwanda’s Amavubi in a tense 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The match began with an early setback for Nigeria as star forward Victor Osimhen was forced to leave the game due to an injury. Despite this, the team maintained control throughout the first half, which ended in a scoreless draw.
The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Tolu Arokodare found the back of the net, giving the Eagles the decisive lead.
The Nigerian defense held strong for the remainder of the match, securing all three points and bolstering their bid for World Cup qualification. The Super Eagles are now set to face South Africa on Tuesday in their next key qualifier.
