Popular Ghanaian gospel musician and preacher Sonnie Badu has expressed his disappointment regarding the lack of support he received from his fellow gospel musicians following a domestic accident he experienced in December 2023.
The musician, known for his impactful worship songs, revealed that he underwent surgery following the accident, which occurred when he stumbled on the steps between his garden and metal railings while cleaning and watering.
Despite not fully recovering, Badu performed at his Annual Rhythms of Africa concert in Accra on December 9, 2023. His appearance and energetic stage performance at the event sparked claims on social media that his injury was exaggerated or staged to promote the concert.
However, the ‘Money’ singer dismissed such allegations, reflecting instead on the emotional toll of the incident
In an interview on Joy Prime, the founder of Rockhill Chapel expressed disappointment over the lack of concern shown by his colleagues.
In his words, “Not even a single one checked up on me. When I realized that not even a single gospel artist colleague or pastor would check up on me, that’s when I said, even if I died, nobody cares; I have to rise up quickly,” Badu lamented.
The award- winning artist further explained that had the roles been reversed, he would have reached out, regardless of his relationship with the individual. He was however quick to acknowledged a few pastors who did check on him, including Pastor Jerry Eze, Prophet Agyemang Prempeh, and Apostle Amoako Atta.
