Sierra Leone Appeals Court Judge Placed on Leave Amid Misconduct Allegations

Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens of Sierra Leone’s Court of Appeal has been placed on administrative leave with immediate effect, pending investigations into allegations of misconduct.

The decision follows the circulation of videos on social media by a 21-year-old woman who claims to have been in a relationship with the judge. In the videos, she alleges that she is pregnant with his child and appealed publicly for his support, while also calling on his wife to show compassion.

The revelations, which have gone viral, have drawn widespread attention and sparked debate about the abuse of power by public officials in Sierra Leone.

Justice Stevens’ case has been referred to the Judicial and Legal Service Commission, which will conduct investigations and decide on the appropriate course of action.
