Senegal is mourning the tragic death of young goalkeeper Cheikh Touré, who was found dead in Ghana after being allegedly kidnapped by fraudsters posing as football scouts. The news was confirmed in a statement by Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs.
According to authorities, the promising player was deceived by individuals who claimed he had been invited to Ghana for professional football trials with a top club. Believing the offer to be genuine, Cheikh travelled to Ghana in hopes of advancing his career, unaware it was a trap.

Reports indicate that upon his arrival, the fake scouts abducted him and later demanded a ransom from his family. Despite their efforts, the family was unable to meet the kidnappers’ demands, leading to the young athlete’s death.
Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs said an investigation is ongoing in collaboration with Ghanaian authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible.
