Kenyan President, William Ruto, has announced his administration’s plan to double employment in Kenya’s housing sector from 320,000 to 640,000 jobs.
Speaking on Sunday, August 10, 2025, after inspecting several housing projects and engaging with construction workers, Mr. Ruto reaffirmed his government’s commitment to Kenya’s Affordable Housing Programme.
According to him, the Affordable Housing Project aims not only to increase access to decent and affordable homes across Kenya, but also to significantly boost job creation.
The President says “We remain committed to delivering the Affordable Housing Programme, not only to expand access to decent, affordable homes but also to double jobs in the sector from 320,000 to 640,000.”
In Kiambu County, the government is constructing 15,000 housing units to complement projects in Nairobi County and surrounding areas, addressing the capital’s growing housing needs.
The President expressed satisfaction with the progress of the 705-unit Limuru Affordable Housing Project, which is now 70% complete and scheduled for handover in January 2026.
