It is deeply troubling to see Ambassador Omrie Golley dragged unfairly in Alpha Amadu Jalloh’s recent piece, The Fall of the Red Giant.
Let us be clear: Ambassador Golley is a patriot who helped negotiate peace when Sierra Leone was on the brink of collapse. His record is not one of moral failure but of courage and service. He has represented our country with distinction as Ambassador to Korea and remains a voice of moderation and unity in APC.
The attempt to demonize him ignores history and betrays the spirit of reconciliation our nation fought so hard to achieve. APC is a party for all Sierra Leoneans, not a political priesthood controlled by self-appointed gatekeepers.
No one has the right to play God and decide who may or may not serve in national life. We must resist politics of exclusion and build a future based on forgiveness, unity, and progress. Ambassador Golley’s contributions will remain an honorable part of that future.
