Rapper Sean Kingston and His Mother Charged With Committing Over $1 Million Fraud, Grand Theft; Booked Into Florida Jail

American rapper and singer, Kisean Paul Anderson, known professionally as Sean Kingston, has been booked into Florida’s Broward County jail and together with his mother, Janice Turner, charged with committing over $1 million worth of fraud and grand theft. 

The 34-year-old Jamaican-born rapper and singer was arrested at Fort Irwin, an Army training base in California’s Mojave Desert while performing on May 23, 2024. He waived his right to challenge his extradition to Florida and was booked into Florida’s Broward County jail on Sunday, June 2, 2024, few days after his extradition, according to jail records.

His mother, aged 61, was also arrested the same day when a SWAT team raided his rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to reports.

Kingston – who is known for his hit songs such as: ‘Beautiful Girls’, and ‘Eenie Meenie’ – and his mother Turner have been charged with conducting an organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, identity theft and related crimes, warrants released by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office revealed. The warrants allege the mother and son stole money, jewelry, a Cadillac Escalade and furniture.

A Florida judge set a $100,000 bond for Sean Kingston, with the judge listing 10 criminal charges against him on Monday, June 3, 2024, at his bond hearing. The charges included fraud, grand theft and criminal use of personal identification.

Meanwhile, Kingston’s lawyer, Bob Rosenblatt, reportedly stated that the popular rapper intends to enter a not-guilty plea.
