John Dramani Mahama
Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama has departed Ghana for official visits to Japan and Singapore.
He left Ghana on Sunday, August 17, 2025, according to an official announcement by the Ghanaian Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu in a statement released on Sunday.
According to the statement, Mr. Mahama’s visits to Japan and Singapore aims at strengthening bilateral relations and attracting investments to Ghana.
The statement said President Mahama will participate in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX). At the conference, Mr. Mahama is expected to speak at a plenary session focused on promoting trade and investment.
The statement added that Mr. Mahama will also speak at the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, highlighting Ghana’s investment prospects under the Resetting Ghana agenda.
Additionally, the Ghanaian leader is expected to meet with top Japanese officials, including Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and executives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), to discuss cooperation in infrastructure, trade, and technical support.
After his engagements in Japan, President Mahama will head to Singapore for further bilateral assignments.
During his three-day state visit to Singapore, Mr. Mahama will meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
The Ghanaian President will also participate in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum and deliver an address at an investment forum aimed at promoting Ghana’s reforms and encouraging Singaporean investment in Ghana.
