President Alassan Ouattara has presented Ivory Coast’s National Award of Excellence for the Sword of Honor to Captain Claudia Adou, the head of the Ivorian Anti-drug Section of the National Gendarmerie.
The selection committee of the award said the distinction highlights the remarkable efforts of the captain in the fight against drug trafficking and illicit substances in Côte d’Ivoire.
Captain Adou has made several seizures including all drugs, including 110 tonnes of inferior and falsified medicinal products, as well as 350 kilograms of medicines used for drug addiction, according to law enforcement officials.
It would be recalled that she also supervised the destruction of 450 smoking rooms and the arrest of 2,350 people, placed at the disposal of justice for their criminal activities linked to drugs. Among its most notable operations is the seizure at the Autonomous Port of Abidjan of a container of psychotropic substances hidden in the cylinder heads of automobile engines, with an estimated market value of 1.3 billion FCFA. As a reminder, Captain Claudia Ruth Adou is bilingual, mastering English and French, and she comes from the first promotion of female Gendarmerie officers in Côte d’Ivoire.
