Nigerian street-pop artist Portable has reignited his feud with Afrobeats megastar Davido, publicly contrasting him with Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, who Portable claims showed him more sincere support.
Speaking in a recent outburst, Portable stated that although he has never met Burna Boy face-to-face, the artist still reached out to offer him help, which he praised as a genuine act of generosity.
Criticism of Davido and Inherited Wealth
In a strong, implied criticism aimed at Davido, Portable asserted that while the “Unavailable” hitmaker often portrays himself as a strong supporter of emerging artists, he fails to deliver genuine assistance.
Portable further criticized individuals who gain advantages solely from their wealthy backgrounds, asserting that true success comes from personal accomplishments and the ability to thrive independently without relying on familial wealth.
The Ongoing Feud
This recent comment adds a significant new layer to the ongoing friction between Portable and Davido. Their conflict first began when Portable publicly accused Davido of unfollowing him on social media following their encounter in the United States earlier this year. Since then, Portable has consistently directed veiled and overt critiques at the Afrobeats hitmaker through his social media outbursts, confirming their rivalry remains active.
"Even Burna Boy that I've never set my eyes on gave me ₦20 Million, unlike Davido. It's not by having a rich father whose money isn't yours, it's by having your own. Whoever really wants to help you won't stress you."
