Afrobeats star Portable has publicly defended his wife, Bewaji, following a social media post by his fourth babymama, actress Ashabi Simple, that was interpreted as a slight.
In a voice note shared online, Portable issued a strong warning to Ashabi, demanding she show respect to his wife. He praised Bewaji’s loyalty, stating, “Don’t ever disrespect my wife, Bewaji. She is always minding her business. She was the only woman who stood by me when I had nothing.”
Portable contrasted Bewaji’s consistent support and contentment with his gifts to Ashabi’s perceived ingratitude.
“She is always satisfied with anything I give her, unlike you who doesn’t appreciate me,” he added.
The singer also emphasized Bewaji’s central and irreplaceable role in his life: “If she didn’t approve you, you would not be with me today because her happiness is my happiness. If my name is removed from your life, who are you?” He concluded by reminding Ashabi to stay in her lane and appreciate Bewaji’s position.
The controversy began after Ashabi shared a post that many online users viewed as throwing shade at Bewaji, prompting Portable’s immediate and direct response to protect his wife and establish clear boundaries.
