Nigerian street-pop artist Portable has stunned fans with a heated verbal attack on his wife, Bewaji, just hours after publicly pleading for her forgiveness amidst his ongoing feud with his fourth babymama, Ashabi Simple.
In a dramatic shift in tone, Portable accused Bewaji of emotional and domestic neglect, claiming her attitude was the primary reason he sought relationships and children with other women.
Allegations of Domestic Neglect
The singer insisted that while he desires a monogamous marriage, his home life has lacked the care necessary to sustain it.
“I love to have only one wife, but the one wife I had never checked up on me or cared about me. It is you women that push your husband outside,” he asserted.
Portable listed several specific grievances, including a lack of communication and traditional respect:
- Lack of Attention: He claimed she rarely calls to check on him.
- Domestic Duties: He alleged she fails to provide food or intimacy “on time.”
- Traditional Respect: He contrasted her behavior with religious devotion, stating, “You don’t kneel for me, yet you kneel for your pastors, despite the fact that I was the one that trained you.”
Warnings and Financial Grievances
The “Zazuu” crooner further warned Bewaji that many women outside are eager to “draw him close” and treat him better than his own wife does at home. He accused her of enjoying his financial support while refusing to reciprocate with affection.
In a lighter but bizarre moment of the outburst, Portable even complained about his physical appearance, alleging that Bewaji stopped him from using her skincare products out of fear that other women would find him too attractive. “See how dark my skin is,” he added.
The public outburst has triggered a wave of reactions online, with many users criticizing the singer for airing private marital grievances so shortly after a public show of support for his wife.
