The Eastern Regional Police Command has taken five people into custody in connection with the death of Kwadwo Yeboah, a civilian employee based at Burma Camp, whose disappearance earlier this month alarmed residents of Ahyia Yeboah near Sokode-Juaso in the Abuakwa North Municipality. A sixth suspect is still being pursued.
Yeboah was last seen on 16 November 2025 after travelling to the community of Foforfo to retrieve a mobile phone. When he failed to return, his family and neighbours launched a search that lasted several days. His body was eventually located on 25 November in the Bediasi River by a community search team, prompting police to begin a full investigation.
The discovery sparked tension in the area, where frightened residents expressed anger over the circumstances of Yeboah’s death. The unrest briefly escalated, leading to the burning of three houses before the Ghana National Fire Service intervened to restore order.
Police dispatched a medical team, including a pathologist, to assist with the recovery and examination of the remains. Due to the condition of the body and in line with public health procedures, the authorities released it to the family for immediate burial.
The Eastern Regional Police Command says investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing and the roles of all suspects involved. Officers have urged the public to remain calm and assist with credible information that could support the inquiry.
Community members who spoke to the media have appealed to the police to speed up their work and ensure justice for the Yeboah family.
