Former Vice President of America and defeated Democrat presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, has revealed in her upcoming book that former President Joe Biden’s decision to seek a second term of office in November 2024 was “recklessness”, alleging that the Biden team sabotaged her campaign and refused to help her when polls indicated she was getting more popular.
In an excerpt of her book, “107 Days” published on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 by The Atlantic, she says “And of all the people in the White House, I was in the worst position to make the case that he should drop out.”
Harris writes “I knew it would come off to him as incredibly self-serving if I advised him not to run. He would see it as naked ambition, perhaps as poisonous disloyalty, even if my only message was: Don’t let the other guy win.”
She added that “‘It’s Joe and Jill’s decision.’ We all said that, like a mantra, as if we’d all been hypnotized. Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness,” saying “The stakes were simply too high. This wasn’t a choice that should have been left to an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition. It should have been more than a personal decision.”
Harris ran a short presidential campaign in 2024 after Biden withdrew from the 2024 race following a dismal debate that inflamed questions about his age and mental fitness.
She went on to lose the election to President Trump.
Harris announced last month that she would go on a book tour involving 15 cities, including the United Kingdom and Canada, for “107 Days.” The book, which outlines her short-lived White House bid, is expected to go on sale September 23, 2025.
But according to her, part of the reason why she couldn’t win President Donald Trump in 2024 was due to a Biden team so committed to not her.
She says the decision by Biden team not to help her came at his own, and America’s expense.
She writes: “When polls indicated that I was getting more popular, the people around him didn’t like the contrast that was emerging”.
Harris says “None of them grasped that if I did well, he did well. That given the concerns about his age, my visible success as his vice president was vital. It would serve as a testament to his judgment in choosing me and reassurance that if something happened, the country was in good hands. My success was important for him.”
“His team,” she says, “didn’t get it.”
