NYPD Detective Dies in Colombia a Week After Undergoing liposuction and a butt lift.

A New York Police Department (NYPD) detective and mother of three has died in Colombia, just one week after undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure that included liposuction and a butt lift.

Detective Alicia Stone, 40, was found unresponsive in her hotel room in Cali around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, according to law enforcement sources. She was rushed to Fundación Valle del Lili Hospital, where she was pronounced dead approximately an hour later.

Stone, a 13-year veteran of the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau, had traveled to Colombia for a gluteal fat transfer (commonly known as a Brazilian Butt Lift) and liposuction on October 16. Following the procedure, she was prescribed anticoagulants and pain medication and was recovering at a hotel when she passed away.

Authorities listed her cause of death as “unspecified cardiac arrest.”

Her husband, Michael Stone, told the New York Daily News that he plans to request a full autopsy and investigation into her sudden death.

“The doctor who called me from Colombia just said my wife had passed away — but she couldn’t give me any details,” he said. “Something just doesn’t add up. To be told suddenly that she’s gone is shocking and heartbreaking. I need the facts of what really happened.”

Michael added that Alicia appeared “perfectly fine” before her surgery and had told family members the day before her death that she was feeling well.

A fundraiser set up for Stone’s family described her as a “loving mother, devoted wife, and dedicated public servant” who served her community with compassion and courage.

“Her kindness and strength touched everyone she met, both in and out of uniform. Her unexpected passing has left a tremendous void in the lives of her family, friends, and fellow officers,” the tribute read.

Following her death, Colombian authorities, the U.S. State Department, and the Colombian National Police were notified. Reports indicate that an NYPD detective has also been sent to Colombia to assist in the investigation.

The case has renewed concerns about the risks associated with medical tourism, particularly cosmetic surgery procedures performed abroad.

Nigerian Senator and husband of Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko, has defended polygamy, saying in an interview that he feels sorry for men who marry one wife.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Sunday, October 26, 2025, Nwoko said he feels “sorry for men with just one wife.”
