A Lagos-based Nigerian woman has taken to social media to express her frustration and feeling of disrespect over an unusual financial arrangement where her husband gives money directly to their first daughter instead of her.
In a video shared online, the woman explained the awkward situation:
“How can a man I call my husband be giving money to my first daughter? If I ask him for money, he tells me to ask her. This has been happening for a long time, and it’s really frustrating,” she said.
The woman clarified that the situation has been ongoing for some time, leading her to feel upset and disrespected that her husband bypasses her in managing family funds meant for her needs.
The post has sparked a flurry of reactions online. Many users sympathized with the woman’s feelings, acknowledging the perceived slight in the husband’s handling of finances. Others, however, focused the debate on the need for better communication and fairness in managing family money, suggesting the arrangement might be a matter of trust or financial management training for the daughter.
