The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Nigeria has issued a stern warning to its students, prohibiting several forms of personal expression and behavior on campus. The university has banned dreadlocks, sexually provocative clothing, and public displays of affection such as kissing and hugging between members of the opposite sex.

According to a statement from the institution, students found guilty of violating these rules may face rustication for one semester. The university noted:

“In view of the contemporary trend in the University, any student found guilty of violation of the following dress codes in the University risks rustication for one (1) semester.”

The administration also stated that certain violations could carry harsher penalties, with some infractions leading to rustication for up to two semesters.

The updated code of conduct reflects OAU’s broader efforts to enforce discipline.
