Gunmen have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State. The incident occurred on the night of Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the chairman’s residence in the Sakpefu community.
According to reports, a five-man gang scaled the fence of the chairman’s home, firing shots into the air to intimidate residents. They then broke into a room where they found Hajiya Fatima, Swasun’s wife, and his daughter, Amina, and kidnapped them at gunpoint. The assailants fled with the victims to an unknown location.
A member of the APC state executive council confirmed the attack, noting that Alhaji Swasun narrowly escaped the incident. The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, has reportedly not yet been briefed on the situation.
The abduction has intensified concerns over rising insecurity in Patigi and other parts of Kwara North, as residents continue to call for stronger security measures. The victims’ whereabouts remain unknown, and no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
